Car Insurance - Your questions

We'll give you a great deal for your wheels, but before you sign on the dotted line, here are the answers to our most frequently asked car insurance questions.

Can I take out immediate cover?

Yes. You can take out a policy in minutes. Either apply online or just call us on 0800 028 7540. Calls may be monitored or recorded.

What type of cover is available?

You can choose from three different levels of cover: fully comprehensive, third party fire and theft, or third party only.

Can I pay by installments?

Yes, if you're taking out an annual policy you can pay monthly. We make an additional charge (typical APR rate 26.8%), which is spread over the year.

How can I pay for my policy?

We offer you a choice of payment methods. Pay your premium in a lump sum by Direct Debit, debit card or credit card. Or, for a small additional charge, spread the cost of your annual policy over the year (subject to status).

Do you insure motorbikes, vans and caravans?

No. We only insure private cars.

Can I get a quote if I don't have a car registration number?

Yes, you can select from our list of cars to get a quote, but if you decide that you want to buy a policy, the registration number will be required.

Do you provide a courtesy car if I have an accident?

After an accident covered by your policy, providing your car is being repaired by an approved repairer, we will provide you with a courtesy car while the repairs are being carried out (subject to availability, and terms and conditions apply). The courtesy car applies to comprehensive cover for accidental damage claims and Third Party, Fire and Theft for fire and theft claims where damage is repairable.

Who provides Debenhams Car Insurance?

Debenhams Car Insurance is arranged and administered by BDML Connect Ltd, part of the Capita Group. Policies are underwritten by a panel of insurers, details available on request.

Can I change my mind once I've taken a policy out?

If you find that our car insurance doesn't meet your requirements then you have the right to cancel, but some charges may apply. For details of the 14 day cooling off period, please see our policy details and terms of business.

How do I make a claim?

If you make a claim, we want to make the claim experience as easy as possible. Simply call 0870 606 1366. Calls are charged at 7.5p a minute, and may be recorded and monitored. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.
